It's All Good at Meatheads

These days we've been trying to eat out less and save our money; we limit our dining out to weekends and special events. With all the economic news, it seems more people are doing the same. This change has offered a few unexpected payoffs beyond the money saved; I have begun enjoying cooking at home, I've lost a few pounds and we seem to enjoy the meals out more than before. Grabbing food on the go had become too routine for us, now it is truly a treat.

Today we tried a new place on 75th Street in Naperville, Meat Heads Serious Burgers & Fries. We went in very hungry and looking for a good burger, and we were wowed. Our burgers were made to order from fresh angus beef on buttery, soft buns and served alongside fresh-cut, skinny, skin-on fries. Order at the counter, grab drink and the friendly waitstaff brings it out in a few minutes. Nothing fancy, just good.

The fries, though cooked in non-trans fat oil, have the decadent taste of old-fashioned ones. Nice and salty, crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside -- perfect in my opinion. We didn't try the cajun fries, but they seem to be big sellers. My daughter got a chocolate shake and it was good, thick but totally drinkable from the start. There were also some specialty sandwiches on the menu, but burgers and fries are the focus and it pays off.

The atmosphere is clean, bright and without a screwy theme. Open only a week, it was bustling with customers who had a choice among the large booths or open low counter seating. I'm a bit tired of over decorated, cutesy restaurants - it's nice to just be in a comfortable, clean spot. The staff brings out the food and buses the tables, so you don't have to wait at the counter of deal with the messing cleaning up.

Go check this place out, if you are watching your dining budget, the place is a good buy.
I dropped about $16 for the two of us, and it was worth. Maybe next time we will economize and only get one order of fries because the serving size was pretty generous. This location has just opened, it's worth supporting in these tough times. Good straightforward food, without schmaltzy themes and
